 On August 8, 1840, coming from Boulogne-sur-Mer, three post cars, escorted by a detachment of dragoons, entered the department of the Somme, at Nampont; troops had been stationed all along the route to ensure order. In Abbeville, crossed at 2:30 in the afternoon, the crowd had rushed on the road. In Picquigny, in the crowd, on its passage, we uttered the cry of: "Long live the Emperor's Nephew!", For it was, in fact, Prince Louis-Napoleon who was traveling in this way; of the attempt at imperial restoration undertaken on August 6 at Boulogne-sur-Mer, where he had landed with a troop of about sixty people, he had been taken and he was taken to Fort de Ham.
